‘The Magic Coin Trilogy: Bridging a Community’ -- This unique event happens Jan. 27, 5-7 p.m. at the Starland Gallery, 2428 Bull St. Featuring an African American child as the protagonist, “The Magic Coin” trilogy invites young readers to navigate a series of fantastic adventures to accumulate a newfound respect for themselves and for others. The event is geared for local children and features writing workshops, games, prizes, food, and SCAD student Patrick McWhorter's illustrations.

‘The Anti-postcard Show!’ -- Paintings by Lind Hollingsworth and photographs by Michael Ellison through Feb. 28 at the Hospice Savannah Art Gallery, located at Hospice House, 1352 Eisenhower Dr.
‘Various Views’ -- Show at Gallery 440, 440 Bull St., features eclectic work by local artists iIncluding Fran Thomas, Morgan Kuhn, Charlotte Dunlap, Frances Walters, Angela Coonce, Carolyn Neely and Preston Russell.
‘Aftermath’ -- AASU presents the artwork of painter Katherine Taylor Jan. 9-26 in the AASU Fine Arts Gallery. Taylor’s large scale, oil-on-canvas paintings are based on actual scenes of devastation in the Gulf Coast. Taylor will attend the closing gallery reception, Thursday, Jan. 26 at noon.
Meryl Truett -- New photographs exploring the vernacular architecture of the American South, at Rosewood Studio and Gallery at 113 Oglethorpe Ave.
JEA Art for January -- Paintings by Ligel Lambert will be on display this month at the Jewish Educational Alliance, 5111 Abercorn St.
Gallery 209 Artists -- “Small Treasures” is the theme for January at this gallery at 209 E. River St.
