‘Variations on a Still Life’ -- Patricia Walker’s oil paintings and drawings in charcoal and pastel are displayed in DAC Gallery at One East Broughton St. from May 10 to June 15.



Art at AASU -- Three AASU art education students hold a gallery reception for their final student art exhibition at AASU on Tuesday, May 17 at 6 p.m. in the AASU Fine Arts Gallery. Lindsey Thompson, Becky Herzog, and Heidi Morris complete their art education studies with this exhibit. Open through May 20, weekdays 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Free.



‘In House’ -- SCAD presents this exhibition influenced by skateboard culture, May 18–June 28, in the Red Gallery, 201 E. Broughton St. Reception is Thursday, May 19, 6 p.m., featuring a 7 p.m. lecture by Mike Grimes, the curator for “32-Inch Canvas,” a traveling collection of skateboard decks from Canada. Free and open to the public.

‘Dreams and Visions’ -- Works in oil and wax on paper and canvas by Ruth Hunter through May at the Alvida Art Gallery 7303 Abercorn St. one block south of Eisenhower in Upchurch Centre. Gallery hours are Mon-Thur, 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Fri-Sat, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.



Call for Entries -- Show is June 3-June 24, 2005 at the Starland Center of Contemporary Art. Show “strives to exploit the complex possibilities” that pencil and paper offer in partnership. Work may be submitted or proposed to David at davideveritthowe@gmail.com. Submissions must include photographs,

dimensions, and an artist statement. For proposals, photographs are not necessary, however, they should include an artist statement, technical description of the final work, and sketches. Deadline May 23. Work selected by May 25. Installation begins May 30. F

‘Print, Process, Collaboration: Bud Shark, Master Printer’ -- SCAD presents an exhibition that explores contemporary American printmaking, through May 15 at Red Gallery, 201 E. Broughton St.



‘Bridge’ -- SCAD presents an exhibition featuring work by 11 students in the winter quarter 2005 Chinese painting class, through May 13, at Alexander Hall Gallery, 668 Indian St.
