SUMMER cabaret is back at The Lucas!
If you’ve never been, The British Invasion is a great way to kick off a new tradition. At the Onstage Cabaret Series, the tables are turned: the audience sits directly on the stage, facing out into the theatre. The Lucas already feels like some kind of Wedgewood music box, and when you’re perched on the stage on a plush velvet couch, you get the absolute best view of the gilded architectural wonder. And all while being serenaded by some of Savannah’s finest vocalists!
For 2015’s first installment, returning Cabaret stars Trae Gurley, Natasha Drena, JJ Hobbs, and Cecilia Arango will whisk audiences back in time with their stellar vocals and dynamic presence. From “Son of a Preacher Man” to “House of the Rising Sun” to “Yesterday,” the show will focus on pop hits of the mid-60s.
“We knew that 1964: the Tribute was returning to the Theatre this year, and we were trying to think of a fun way to tie into that concept with our cabaret season opener,” explains Lucas Managing Director Erin L. Muller. “All of our vocalists were in immediate, full support of the idea, so we have a team of people really excited to turn out a great show.”
