IT'S TIME for a new beer collaboration! Rock 106.1 has teamed up with Soundbound Brewing Company to debut a full-bodied porter called El Scorcho. The “Scorcho” comes from the smoked chipotle introduced into the brewing process; expect chocolatey, roasted and smoky tones with heat!
To celebrate, Rock 106.1 is hosting a big party featuring two bands at the local brewery. Hilton Head’s Akilavue (pronounced a-killer-view) make raw, high-energy rock. Fronted by Doug Marshall (who also led Souls Harbor, a Beaufort metal band that released music with Crash/EMI and opened for the likes of Korn, Papa Roach, and more), Akilavue is inspired by the classics like Led Zeppelin, the modern theatrics of Muse, and the dark pop of The Cure.
Savannah’s Broken Glow join the bill with their blues-rock-prog fusion.
If you’re hungry, you won’t have to look far. Dark Shark Taco Attack! food truck and Downtown Catering and Events will be slingin’ their fare in the parking lot.
The first 50 people who attend the event will get a limited-release bomber (beer label) with El Scorcho’s trademark fiery devil. All attendees can enjoy beer samples throughout the evening and will go home with a souvenir pint glass.
