Catch two of country music’s most in-demand songwriters at Tybee Post Theater.

Tony Arata was born right here in Savannah, grew up on Tybee Island, and earned a degree in journalism right up the road at Georgia Southern University. While going to school in Statesboro, Arata began playing in bands and sharing his original compositions with the locals.

He took those talents to Nashville and began a career penning hits for superstar country musicians. Those hits include “The Dance,” recorded by Garth Brooks (who called Arata ‘the king of soul in songwriting’), “Here I Am,” recorded by Patty Loveless, and “I’m Holding My Own” by Lee Roy Parnell.

Arata records under his own name, too, and has cut three solo albums. He’ll play his solo work and radio hits at his Tybee Post Theater show.

Arata is joined by Texas songwriter Leslie Satcher. A fellow writer of number ones, the “Texas Tornado” penned Merle Haggard and Gretchen Wilson’s “Politically Uncorrect,” Martina McBride’s “Women God-Fearin’ Get the Blues,” George Strait’s “Troubadour,” Pam Tillis’s “Heartache,” Travis Tritt’s “Mission of Love,” and Kellie Pickler’s “Tough.”

Satcher signed with Warner Bros. Records and released a solo album, Love Letters, in 2002. After a break in 2006, she continues to sing, write, and release music.
