Atlanta Braves fans will show their support for local resident Rebecca Spear this weekend at Coach’s Corner at 3016 East Victory Drive in Savannah with a series of fundraising events at the sports bar dubbed #Braves4Becca.
Event organizer Kelli Sauers-Henderson is helping to raise funds for the 36-year-old longtime friend and Coach’s Corner employee “Becca” who suffered a tragic and debilitating stroke on August 7.
The #BBQ4Becca portion of the fundraiser is scheduled for Friday from 11 a.m.-2 p.m., while the #BeccaBash is scheduled to kick off Saturday at 11 a.m. with a variety of local musical talent, more barbecue, a 50/50 raffle and silent auction. Concert and meal tickets are $10 each. All proceeds from the event and donations will be used to help pay for Spear’s medical bills, recovery and rehabilitation.
Throughout its nearly 30-year history, Coach’s Corner has hosted many fundraising events and has become a mainstay of the local music and sports scene. Musicians scheduled for the weekend’s event include singer-songwriter Hunter Price, who is well known for his appearance on Season 13 of ‘America’s Got Talent.’
Hunter performed his original song “Left Behind,” which earned him positive reviews from Mel B, Heidi Klum and Simon Cowell. All three judges voted “Yes” which sent the 25-year-old aspiring musician onto the next round. Additional acts include Matt Hill, Keith & Ross, Ember City, The Fractions and Wassaw Sound.
Outside of Coach’s Corner, an oversized Tomahawk will be on display, along with a large sign encouraging drivers to honk their horns in support of Spear and the Atlanta Braves. Fans of the Braves, friends and family are attempting to raise $30,000 for her.
Supporters of Becca are asking people to help them reach that goal and perhaps even spend a night in the teepee! They are asking folks to stop by Coach’s Corner to cheer on the Braves, show their support and make a donation to #BeccaStrong.
