Welcome to our St. Patrick's Day special issue, in which we try and impart both the practical nuts and bolts of Savannah's legendary holiday as well as give locals and tourists alike a certain nuanced look into the, uh, flavor of the celebration.
We always strive to have a unique look on the cover for this issue every year, to differentiate us from all the other publications around town and their various takes on lucky leprechauns, pots o’ gold, etc., as well as to just have some fun in the true Savannah spirit of St. Patrick’s Day.
I’m not sure if Marilyn Monroe was Irish, or if she ever came anywhere near Savannah. But this year photographer Geoff L. Johnson brings us his homage to the iconic “Ballerina” shot of Marilyn, taken exactly 60 years ago by Milton H. Greene.
Our cover model this year is local actress, makeup artist, costume designer, and all-around great gal Corinna Rezzelle. (You might remember Corinna from Bill DeYoung’s fun profile of her in a recent issue.)
Anyway, I’m 100 percent positive Corinna makes a better cover subject than some generic Lucky Charms-type clip art, and I’m also pretty sure you’ll agree.
