Local cyclists will converge on Savannah City Hall at noon Thursday, March 20, "to thank City leaders for helping to make Savannah better for bicycles, and encourage them to do more to make the city safer, friendlier and more convenient for people who ride bikes," says a spokesman for the Savannah Bicycle Campaign.

“Over the last six years we’ve worked cooperatively with the City of Savannah to expand our bicycle infrastructure network, organize cycling events, and earn Bicycle Friendly Community status from the League of American Bicyclists,” said John Bennett, executive director of the Savannah Bicycle Campaign, who also pens Connect Savannah's biweekly "The News Cycle" column.

“The Ride to City Hall is designed to celebrate the progress we’ve made as a community and urge our leaders to do more.”

A group ride organized by the Bicycle Campaign will depart from Ellis Square, arriving at City Hall just after noon. Those who do not have bicycles can rent a CAT Bike from the Ellis Square bike share station, subject to availability. Following remarks, lunch will be served.

This event is being held during the same week as the annual Ride to the Capitol in Atlanta and in conjunction with other rides to city halls in Athens, Griffin, Milledgeville and Rome.
