Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police are investigating "an incident in which multiple shots were fired at a car and four people who were attempting to put gasoline in it in east Savannah Sunday," a police spokesman says.

Islands Precinct Patrol officers responded to a call at East 32nd Street and Skidaway Road to find a white Chevrolet Impala with multiple bullet marks at 4:13 p.m.

They located "a 21-year-old female who told them a male and two female friends were helping her refuel her car when two men began shooting at the Impala from the intersection of 32nd and Cabell streets," police say.

Multiple shell casings were found and two bags of marijuana and scales were found in the Impala. "Another vehicle and an unoccupied house on Atkinson Street also were struck by bullets," according to police.

Violent Crimes detectives continue to investigate.
