A cooperative investigation among multiple law enforcement agencies resulted in a man’s arrest for two bank robberies that occurred between 9 and 10 a.m., April 28.

David Stanley, 51, was arrested for allegedly robbing the BB&T bank in the 300 block of Mall Boulevard and the Georgia Heritage Federal Credit Union in the 1000 block of West Lathrop Avenue. Stanley reportedly stated he was armed during both robberies.

"Detectives credit forthcoming witnesses and community involvement, which led to the description of the suspect’s vehicle," police say. "Stanley was apprehended following a traffic stop near a gas station on Highway 80 in Pooler."

The Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department’s Robbery Unit, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Chatham County Sherriff’s office, Pooler Police, and the Department of Motor Vehicles were all instrumental in the arrest.

Stanley is a convicted felon and has been incarcerated eight times since 2004 on theft and shoplifting related charges.
