Plant thief sought

Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department’s Central Precinct investigators ask the public’s help identifying a man suspected in several recent plant thefts occurring between May 15 and May 18.

"At least four thefts of plants and flower pots were reported, including some plants valued at several hundred dollars each," police say.

"These incidents occurred in the 600 block of East 38th Street, 100 block of East 36th Street, 800 block of East 38th Street and in the area of East 41st and Abercorn streets."

Investigators have obtained surveillance images of the suspect with some of the stolen plants in his possession. The suspect is described as a black male, between ages 50 and 60, standing 5-7 to 5-9 and weighing roughly 130-150 pounds. He has grey hair, a receding hair line and light facial hair.

"The suspect is known to frequent East Victory Drive and Abercorn Street. He is sometimes seen pushing a shopping cart filled with flowers," police say.
