Police recruits to honor fallen officer in run

Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department Recruit Class 269 and Class 270 will hold a “Run to Remember” for fallen Savannah Police Officer Frank Mobley on Tuesday, October 15 at 9 a.m.

Officer Mobley was shot and killed by the suspect he was arresting on July 20, 1968 at 421 Jefferson Street.

The “Run to Remember” will begin at the north end of Forsyth Park at Bull and Gaston streets and will end at Jefferson and Taylor streets. A brief ceremony honoring Officer Mobley will take place at 421 Jefferson Street in the Car Spa parking lot.

Mobley’s family will be attending this ceremony.
