At 3:30 p.m., Oct. 28, Chatham County Sheriff's deputies responded to the 12000 block of Sunny Brook Road, looking for 49-year-old, Ralph Terrill. Bryan County had issued a warrant for his arrest after he failed to appear in court on a previous DUI charge.
Terrill was located, placed under arrest and searched. "Deputies cuffed him in front of his body because he had a medical condition requiring it. Once inside the back of the patrol car Terrill located a razor he had hidden on his person and cut his throat," a department spokesperson says.
Terrill was transported to Memorial University Medical Center, "alert and talking after the incident." The extent of his injuries is unknown at this time.
