A 35-year-old Savannah man has been charged with criminal trespass after being shot in a closed bar Sunday morning.

John Clifford Gadson of the 1700 block of Archer Street was charged by Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police after he was transported to Memorial University Medical Center with non-life threatening wounds.

Central Precinct Patrol officers responded to the Island Breeze lounge in the 2800 block of Montgomery Street about 3:30 a.m. to find him in the bar with lounge employees. He had forced his way into the club while staff members were cleaning up and had become involved in an altercation before he was shot.

SCMPD Criminal Investigations detectives continue to investigate.
